How to plan a simple wedding renewal ceremony

It’s not everyday you can have a fireplace in a tent – but that’s exactly what is great about having a Tipi for your wedding venue! We think having one or two of them look fantastic, they create an amazing focal point and create a real warming, intimate atmosphere for your big day.
However, as with any fire, you need to be aware of the safety tips. Not only does this help you avoid any accidents, it helps everyone make the most of these beautifully warming centre pieces. So, here’s our top 5 tips for having a safe fireplace at your Tipi wedding venue:
#1: Safe positioning inside the Tipi
Fireplaces work well in Tipis as they have smoke flaps in their peak. It’s therefore essential, that the Tipi fireplaces are positioned under the smoke flaps, in the centre of the Tipi. The smoke flaps are then opened, prior to the fire being lit. If you don’t open the flaps – you’ll soon realise!
#2: Importance of not moving them, once set up
A Tipi fireplace is incredibly sturdy and designed specifically for use within our Tipis. At 80cm tall, they’re built of both wood and strong sheet metal – we therefore recommend you do not move them, once we’ve set them up. Due to their sturdy construction, overall height and the sand around the edge of the firebox, there’s no chance of anyone running past and accidentally brushing the flames. Not only does this help you avoid injury, it helps protect your guests (old and young) and our Tipis too.
#3: If you need a fire outside, get it located there by Tentario
Our Tipi fireplaces can also be positioned outside, so if this is something you’d like, please do get us to set one or two up for you. Alternatively, you could opt for a campfire outside – just make sure you’re not too close to the Tipi or any hay bale seating!

#4: Use only the supplied fuel
When we set up your Tipi fireplace, we’ll also provide you with logs to keep it going – all you have to do is light it when you’re ready. It’s important that you only use those we provide, as they’re slow burning and designed to give of minimum smoke but maximum heat. They work best when positioned in a triangle/pyramid formation.
#5: Always have a designated fire marshal/person
It’s a good idea to allocate one of your ushers (or another helpful male) as the person in charge of supervising the Tipi fireplace. Not only can the ensure the smoke flaps are opened, they can keep an eye on the fire, make sure it doesn’t go out and add heat logs as needed.
Our fireplaces are a great addition to any Tipi wedding and, if you follow the above fire safety tips, you’ll ensure they’re a safe addition too. Not only will you be providing an amazing focal point, you’ll also welcome the warmth they provide, once the sun goes down!
